A Season of Doing Much Less ℒ️

I'm going to be honest and vulnerable: I have no idea what to say right now, except this. I don't want to make it about me (more than I already have, lol)...but I know others are going through similar circumstances, so here goes:

I've had COVID for the past 2 weeks. This has been scary, frustrating, and hard for a number of reasons. I definitely have noticed less energy. I made the decision to postpone and reschedule my EMDR training, the main thing I was going to give focus to this fall. Disappointing, but it is the right move for me at this time.

Now I'm focusing on my health. Which means radically resting - I'm seeing clients, trying to cut back on my schedule a bit for a while. Otherwise, I'm not going to be doing much for the next few weeks at least.

I will be in touch again soon, although this newsletter may be on hold for a while. I hope if nothing else, this can be a reminder and me modeling self-care! Please slow down & rest as much as you're able and need.

I will still host our live Cardigan Club event on 10/27--hope to see you there!

Take care of yourself today,

Elizabeth πŸ’™

About Elizabeth

I'm a licensed marriage and family therapist, originally licensed in Virginia in 2008 and in more recent years in Kansas and Washington. The first 15 years of my career were spent in a community non-profit organization that specialized in adolescent mental health care. There I had numerous roles, including in the therapeutic day school, partial hospitalization program, intensive outpatient program, Leadership, and outpatient services. I became an approved supervisor in 2010 in Virginia and enjoy providing supervision and consultations. I currently own MH Matters, LLC, a private practice that is 100% virtual.

Checking In I started to write a whole thing about boundaries and timeliness in sessions, which is what we discussed in our last live meet-up. It was a great discussion! It's an important topic, but right now I just want to check in on you and how you're doing. How's your wellness, your mental health, your self-care? How are YOU doing right now? There is such distressing and horrifying news...

Cardigan ClubIt's a Season for No!To whom and/or what are you saying no?Are you noticing signs of burnout? I'm starting to - apathy, dread, overwhelmed...those are some of my earlier signs I've learned to recognize. I've made some tough decisions, with the help of some colleagues and friends, to do some cutting back on my obligations. What this means: I'm not going to be active on much social media aside from Instagram & Twitter. And who knows what's happening on Twitter, so you can find me...
